Calendar of Events
At Carle Clinic, providing superior health care doesn't stop at medical treatment. We also offer many support groups and community resources.
Support Groups Support groups provide a safe environment for patients to share experiences, ask questions and learn to cope with a specific condition. Meetings are free and open to the public, regardless of where patients receive clinical care.
- Alcoholics Anonymous: Carle Addiction Recovery Center's Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Thursday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at 204 W. University Avenue in Urbana. For confidential help or more information, call (217) 383-6039.
- Adult Cochlear Implant Support Group: First Saturday of the month, every other month at 2 p.m. in the Parkview Classrooms near Carle Foundation Hospital cafeteria. Call (217) 383-4375 for more information.
- Cancer Support Groups: Call (217) 383-4581 or (217) 383-4066 for more information.
- Daytime Cancer Support Group: Second Wednesday of the month, 12 p.m. at The Forum at Carle. This is an open forum group for anyone who has or knows someone who has cancer. Lunch is provided.
- Head and Neck Cancer Support Group: Fourth Wednesday of each month, 2 p.m. in the first floor conference room, Carle Cancer Center, 509 W. University Avenue, Urbana. Patients and survivors of head and neck cancers and their family and friends are invited.
Carle on Canvas: Fourth Monday of the month, 6:30 p.m. at Carle Cancer Center, 509 W. University Avenue, Urbana. Patients who are undergoing or have recently completed treatment for cancer are welcome. Artistic ability is not required for participation. Reservations are requested. Call (217) 383-6416.
- Nighttime Cancer Support Group: First and third Wednesday of the month, 7 p.m. at Carle Cancer Center, 509 W. University Avenue, Urbana. Often featuring a guest speaker, meetings cover topics related to living with cancer and its treatment.
- The Women’s Room Cancer Support Group: Fourth Tuesday of the month, 12 p.m. at The Forum at Carle. This group is open to any woman with a female-specific cancer (breast, ovarian, etc). Lunch is provided.
- Diabetes Support Group: Third Tuesday of the month (except July and December), 7 p.m. in the Parkview Classrooms near Carle Foundation Hospital cafeteria. Each meeting features a speaker who addresses issues important to people managing diabetes. Call (217) 383-3490 for more information.
- Fibromyalgia Support Group: Third Wednesday of the month every other month, 6:30 p.m. at Carle Clinic – Champaign on Curtis, 1701 W. Curtis Road. Call (217) 398-7815 for more information
- Hepatitis C Support Group: Second Wednesday of the month, 6 p.m. at The Forum at Carle. Meetings are open to family members and anyone interested in learning about Hepatitis C. Call (217) 383-3610 for more information.
- Parkinson’s Support Group: First Thursday of the month (except July), 5:30 p.m. in the Parkview Classrooms near Carle Foundation Hospital cafeteria. Call (217) 383-3440 for more information.
- Weight Management Orientation: Sessions are held Mondays at 5:15 p.m., Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and Thursdays at 11 a.m. at Carle Clinic - Champaign on Curtis, 1701 W. Curtis Road. Learn about program options, pricing and class schedules offered at Carle Weight Management Center. Orientation sessions are free. Registration is required. Call (217) 365-6205.
Annual Events
- Cancer Survivors Day: For nearly two decades, Carle Cancer Center has celebrated National Cancer Survivors Day with a speaker, entertainment and refreshments. The free event is open to cancer survivors, family and friends.
- Fitness Frenzy: Carle Clinic’s annual Fitness Frenzy Fun Run and Walk provides a healthy outdoor activity for families and promotes general wellness for the community.
- Community Flu Clinics: Hosting the largest flu clinic in central Illinois, Carle Clinic provides 50,000 doses to patients by appointment and at drive-up clinics on the Carle campus.
- Family Fun at the North Pole: Share the holidays with Carle Clinic during Family Fun at the North Pole, a free event for children and families featuring crafts, games, refreshments, gifts, live reindeer and a visit from Santa. More than 2,200 people attended in 2007. This year's party is scheduled for Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 6:00p.m. at Lincoln Square Village.
