While continuing his 17-year neurology practice, Dr. Cranston now oversees specialty departments such as Oncology and Cardiology and works with lead physicians to establish and achieve quality and service goals. He also assists in recruiting specialty physicians.

Dr. Cranston previously served as chair of the Neurology department for 10 years, saying he enjoyed serving in a leadership role. As medical director, he looks forward to mentoring while also learning from the staff.

In addition to his responsibilities at Carle Clinic, Dr. Cranston is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, chair of the Ethics Committee at Carle Foundation Hospital and director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinic. He also serves on the national Bioethics Committee of the Christian Dental and Medical Association.
