Urbana – Michael W. Bukosky, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Carle Clinic Association, traveled to Washington, D.C., last week as part of a delegation from the American Medical Group Association (AMGA).
As a board member for AMGA, Mr. Bukosky meets with lawmakers at the state and national level. On this trip, his second to Capitol Hill, he met with U.S. Rep. Michael C. Burgess, MD (R-TX) to discuss the state of health care and pending legislation that could cut Medicare reimbursement rates and impact care provided at multi-specialty medical clinics like Carle Clinic.
Dr. Burgess represents the 26th District of Texas on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which is responsible for health care, food and drug safety, and energy and power legislation. He also serves as a senior health care advisor to the John McCain for President Campaign.
“My fellow AMGA board members and I work to educate elected leaders on healthcare issues and what legislation really means for our physicians and patients,” Bukosky said. “Providing the best care is becoming increasingly challenging as Congress considers making more cuts in federal funding to healthcare facilities.”
