Members of the community have the opportunity to learn how they can contribute in the fight against cancer.
Carle Cancer Center will host its second annual research study symposium on Wednesday, September 24, 6 – 8 p.m.
“Too few people realize the benefits of research studies,” said Kena Hahn, clinical research professional, Carle Clinic. “We need to know how to prevent cancer and how to treat it, and the only way to do that is through research. The studies are truly an innovative treatment option.”
Mary Collins, RN, Carle Clinic, will discuss research study options for those diagnosed with cancer or those seeking to prevent cancer, and Linda Sergent will share her personal experience of participating.
The symposium will also emphasize the importance of mammograms. Fellowship trained radiologist Mitchell Sussman, MD, Carle Clinic, will speak about digital mammography and how the new technology can detect breast cancer earlier.
This event is free and open to all patients, regardless of where they receive care. Space is limited, and registration is requested. For more information or to register, call (217) 326-1160 or email cancer.research@carle.com.
