Interventional Cardiology

Our board certified interventional cardiologists have the expertise to perform non-surgical procedures to treat cardiovascular disease. They insert thin, flexible tubes called catheters into blood vessels for diagnostic testing or repairing damaged heart structures. This often eliminates the need for complex heart surgery.

In the Heart and Vascular Institute's catheterization lab, Carle Clinic cardiologists use the latest technology to perform numerous procedures, including:

  • Coronary angiography
  • Pecutaneous transluminal coronary (PTCA) and stenting
  • Rotational coronary atherectomy
  • Renal angiography and stenting
  • Transradial catheterization
  • Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)
  • Intracardiac echocardiography (ICE)
  • Peripheral arterial angiography and stenting
