New Carle Cancer Center
As nationally recognized oncology program, Carle Cancer Center delivers comprehensive care through leading-edge technology, advanced research, education and support. Offering more than 100 clinical trials and multi-disciplinary clinics for breast, prostate and head and neck cancers, the Center has served as a premier cancer care destination for more than 25 years.
In August 2008, Carle Cancer Center and Mills Breast Cancer Institute relocated to a new $60 million facility on the main campus in Urbana, bringing together physicians from several medical specialties to provide comprehensive care to patients, all in one place. One of the three floors in the 100,000 square-foot building will house University of Illinois researchers, making the new center a place to both deliver state-of-the-art treatments, and search for new ones.
This joint project of Carle Clinic and Carle Foundation Hospital was inspired by and designed for patients, allowing them to receive care in a more comfortable and private setting conducive to healing. The new facilities feature a patient library and meeting space, meditation room, private infusion suites, designated family waiting areas, wireless internet access, live piano music in the lobby and new radiation therapy technology.
